Build your wedding budget

Updated 2026-09-25

Your budget updates as you commit to vendors and log payments. No spreadsheet required.

Set your total and categories

  1. Open Money, then Budget.
  2. Enter your figure in the "Budget (₹)" field under "Total wedding budget".
  3. Click "Add category" to create one yourself, with a name, an allocated amount and an alert percentage.
  4. Or, once your total is set, click "Suggest categories for your wedding". It splits your total across a starter set you can rename, reallocate or delete.

Track committed vs paid

Open Money, then Transactions, to see every expense against your categories.

  • Click "Add expense" to log a vendor quote or any spend that isn't a marketplace booking. Add a description, amount and category, and optionally the event it belongs to. Set the status to "Pending (due later)" or "Paid (already spent)", with a due date or paid date to match.
  • Bookings made through Mangalyam's vendor marketplace count as committed spend automatically. You don't need to enter them again.
  • On the Payments page, a milestone that's already paid or in progress has no "Mark paid" button, so the same payment can't be recorded twice.

Watch for overruns

Each category on the Budget page shows a badge: "Healthy", "Watch threshold" or "Over budget", based on how close spend is to the alert percentage you set. A banner above your categories counts how many are at or over their line, so you know what to review before approving more spend.

Deleting an expense doesn't erase it. Mangalyam keeps the record for your history instead of dropping it.
